Instead of naïve innocent priest, we get the Inquisitor. The voice acting in the village also drives me insane. And this makes her not interesting and also extremely annoying. Agnea’s character is not designed for sex appeal as Primrose is. Seeing Agnea sing and dance was not interesting. I suppose this is due to the increased budget. One thing they did with Agnea, unlike Primrose, is that they ACTUALLY SHOW HER DANCING. However, Primrose was bordering on Rated X while Agnea is Rated G. I thought Octopath 1’s dancer, Primrose, was very interesting as a character and had a decent and surprising story at times. Agnea wants to be a dancer and she gets attacked by a monster in the village. I don’t think there is a more uninteresting story in this game than this. This story had me groaning with all the terrible dialogue. Sooner it was over, the happier I became. Partitio comes across more of a puppet of the script than an actual character. The villains are one dimensional as are the laborers. The dialogue here sucks as does the slang. I don’t understand the western themes here. Having experienced poverty, he swears to ‘eliminate it’. The merchant boy grows up, beats up the landlord, and goes off into the world. This is perhaps the most unique Chapter 1 in this game. Alters formula by demanding user go to Chapter 2 next. Still, prison breaks are a decent start to a character. The jailors are jokes and can’t be taken seriously. Granted, I like how the Chapter 1 attempts to be ambitious. The ‘plot twist’ at the end wasn’t that interesting. Shawshank is, of course, more entertaining. You can play Osvald’s Chapter 1 or you can watch the Shawshank Redemption. It is so long, it has a Chapter 2 with it as well. Osvald is put in jail and his story is about a prison escape. This decent Chapter 1 might be a big reason why Throne is a popular character. Solid work, but nothing sensational or particularly memorable. The story revolves around violence, not around NPC feelings. That is far more fun than a villain twisting his mustache. It’s not that the leaders are ‘evil’, it is that they were pitting the group against each other so the winner would become the successor.

The ‘story’ is about Throne breaking free from these underground gangsters and seeking revenge on its leaders. Throne’s skill of stealing is tons of fun to use so that helps. I’ll say one thing for Throne, they did good voice actress for the her.

People would use them in WoW because they couldn’t get the name they wanted (and no one could type out their name). I also hate them because online gamers who use accents tend to be terrible Brazilian players or something.

I hate accents since my keyboard doesn’t use them. I really, really hate they put an accent in Throne’s name. Amnesia is too tropish and “Castti is good’ is WAY too saccharine. Castti is presented as Jesus Christ here. What also weighs this down for me is Castti having too much spotlight as a ‘do gooder’. I do like evil apothecaries since they probably are Octopath’s version of Pfizer. I can’t take the amnesia story seriously. Why? And why does she have amnesia? And why are the blue apothecaries evil? Some interesting questions for sure. NOT!!!Ĭastti is an apothecary who has amnesia. Weird enough to be not entirely terrible, but it is sooo derivative with ‘noble savage’ and ‘Humans bad’ that I didn’t want to play it.Īmnesia? What a novel RPG concept. I do really like Ochette constantly eating meat. I really, really hate how the beasties are made out to be ‘noble savages’ with zero individualism while the Humans are all ‘greedy’. However, it’s odd that they give you such an immense choice that early in the game. The choice for animal companion is interesting. How did Simba become leader of these humanoids? WTF is with their ‘leader’? It’s a fucking lion that talks.
#Octopath traveler chapter 2 level series
It is why games like Star Ocean series to me are ‘no go’ zones. I am not a fan of Humanoids with animal ears and tails in RPGs. It needs to be at least 6 to be tolerable. No deviation except for Osvald who goes through a small Chapter 2.ġ-10. When boss gets halfway damage, tutorial on latent power. Tutorial of both path options for some bullshit narrative purpose. The option to skip it isn’t a FIX to this issue that they are long, boring, and extremely formulaic. “You can skip all the Chapter 1s…”īut then how would I know anything of these characters’ stories? Also, you gain levels, items, and wealth during chapter 1s. For 17 and a half hours, you will be doing nothing but this bullshit. Gameplay time to do this took 17:30 hours. Finally got done with the Chapter 1s (I know… I know…).
